Commitment to Achieving Net Zero
RTS AV is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
We take a practical and measured approach to reducing environmental impact across our operations, focusing on efficient design, responsible resource use, and continuous improvement. This approach is embedded within our ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System, which provides a structured framework for monitoring performance, managing environmental risks, and driving ongoing improvement.
RTS AV has already delivered measurable improvements in energy efficiency, including a significant reduction in electricity consumption following the implementation of its environmental management system.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions.
Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be
measured. Baseline emissions have been calculated using 2023 as the reference year.

Scope Breakdown
- Scope 1: Direct emissions from company-operated vehicles using fossil fuels. RTS AV is progressing a transition to lower emission transport, with approximately 65% of the fleet now electric.
- Scope 2: Emissions from purchased electricity used within a 6,000sq ft warehouse and office facility supporting operational delivery.
- Scope 3: Indirect emissions including employee commuting, business travel, supplier deliveries, waste, purchased goods and services, and the lifecycle management of AV equipment and batteries.

Emissions Reduction Targets
RTS AV is committed to:
- Achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050
- Continuing the transition towards a predominantly electric vehicle fleet
- Reducing Scope 2 emissions through energy efficiency and consideration of
renewable electricity procurement
- Reducing Scope 3 emissions through efficient logistics, sustainable procurement, and collaboration with suppliers and clients
We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 45 tCO2e by 2031. This is a reduction of 26%.
Carbon Reduction Initiatives
RTS AV implements a range of practical measures to reduce emissions across its
operations and service delivery:
- Progressive transition to a lower emission vehicle fleet, with approximately 65% of vehicles now fully electric and the remaining fleet meeting Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) standards, reducing overall transport-related emissions
- Upgrade of warehouse lighting to energy efficient LED systems, reducing electricity consumption
- Use of energy efficient LED lighting systems across event delivery to minimise on-site power requirements
- Application of efficient system design to ensure equipment deployed is appropriate to requirement, avoiding unnecessary energy use
- Efficient logistics planning, including consolidation of equipment loads, to reduce transport-related emissions
- Maximising the lifecycle of AV equipment through maintenance, reuse, and
refurbishment, reducing waste and embodied carbon
- Active power management during event delivery, including shutting down equipment when not in use
- Use of remote system configuration and pre-programming to reduce the need for additional site visits
- Waste reduction and recycling initiatives, including compliant recycling of batteries and electronic equipment
- Use of rechargeable battery systems where practicable to minimise waste
- Reduction of single use materials and packaging across operations
- Sustainable procurement practices, including engagement with suppliers who
demonstrate environmental responsibility
- Working closely with clients, venues and partners to design efficient AV solutions that reduce environmental impact while maintaining performance
- Use of digital documentation and workflows to minimise paper usage
- Deployment of local engineers and technicians where practicable to reduce travel
- Encouraging staff to use public transport and lower emission travel options where practicable
- Use of video enabled and remote meeting solutions to reduce business travel
emissions
Future Measures
RTS AV will continue to build on current progress through:
- Increasing the proportion of electric vehicles within the fleet
- Exploring renewable energy sourcing for electricity consumption
- Continuing to improve operational efficiency across warehouse and delivery activities
- Enhancing carbon data collection and reporting accuracy
- Further engaging with suppliers and partners to reduce supply chain emissions
