The Client

The African Development Bank Group (AfDB Group) is a regional multilateral development finance institution established to advance sustainable economic development and social progress across African countries. It comprises three entities—the African Development Bank (AfDB), the African Development Fund (ADF) and the Nigeria Trust Fund (NTF)—and works to reduce poverty, improve living conditions and mobilise domestic and international resources for investment in infrastructure, private sector development and inclusive growth. Guided by a long-term strategy aiming for a prosperous, inclusive, resilient and integrated Africa, the Group tackles cross-border challenges like climate change and economic instability while expanding financing, especially for women- and youth-led micro, small and medium enterprises.

The Challenge

The client required a full day conference to cover multiple topics across their platform. For this they would need a multi language solution not only in the main conference room but additionally in their break out rooms when diving into more detail for specific topics. Our client required the entire event to be recorded for their archives.

The Solution

A full PA system was integrated to ensure optimal sound distribution throughout the large venue. This system utilised high-quality lapel microphones for the seated panel and a dedicated microphone at the lectern position, ensuring every speaker was clearly audible to all attendees. To support this multilingual conference, RTSinstalled dedicated, ISO-compliant interpretation booths within the roomalong with individual headsets allowing attendees to select their preferred language. Multiple screens were strategically positioned across the gallery, guaranteeing that all participants had an unobstructed view of presentation content regardless of their seating location. Wireless handheld microphones were provided to facilitate interactive question-and-answer sessions and engage audience participation effectively.

Broadcast-quality cameras were installed to capture the entire event for archival purposes. These video feeds were also directed to the interpretation booths, providing translators with high-definition close-ups of the active speaker to aid in accurate interpretation.

To accommodate simultaneous panel sessions and flexible scheduling, weequipped additional breakout rooms with integrated AV technology. Each breakout room received a full PA system and strategically placed screens. Additional simultaneous translation systems were installed in these rooms, ensuring multilingual support extended beyond the main gallery. Cameras in every room captured all proceedings, allowing content to be recorded for later review or distribution.

RTS additionally provided lighting over the main stairwell and ground floor to light a staged photo op area on the grand staircase.

A successful event, the team felt it was a smooth running day.
