Corporate Sound Masking Installation

RTS AV recently completed a sound masking installation for a corporate client in central London. The project covered three independent zones and included 122 emitters across the workspace.

Our engineers installed a Biamp Cambridge sound masking system using a QT300 control module. This system supports multi-zone environments and can cover up to 36,000 square feet. As a result, it provides a scalable solution for larger office spaces.

We configured the system to operate across three separate zones. This allows different areas to be managed independently based on their acoustic requirements. In addition, the QT300 offers control via a secure web interface or front panel, which can be locked to prevent unauthorised access.

Sound masking improves speech privacy by introducing a low-level, unobtrusive background sound. This reduces the intelligibility of conversations and helps create a more comfortable working environment. As a result, it supports both confidentiality and concentration.

Modern office design often creates acoustic challenges. For example, open-plan layouts, glass surfaces and reduced partitioning can increase noise levels. In addition, shared workspaces make it more difficult to control sound. Therefore, effective sound masking solutions are becoming increasingly important.

In practice, well-designed sound masking systems improve workplace productivity and reduce distractions. They also support compliance with privacy requirements in corporate and professional environments.

At RTS AV, we apply over 30 years of industry knowledge and skills to AV and acoustic solutions. In addition, our AVIXA-certified team follows recognised best practices. We support clients across public sector, corporate, financial, legal and film studio environments.

As workplace design continues to evolve, sound masking remains an effective solution. Ultimately, it helps create more comfortable, productive and secure working environments.

Cambridge Sound Management

Sound Masking is the addition of an unobtrusive background sound, similar to airflow, to reduce the intelligibility of human speech and to reduce distractions. The resulting environment leads to greater productivity and increased privacy and comfort.
